Brand Persona Design for AI Content (Full Framework)

A documented brand persona can guide AI-assisted content, but every output still requires review.

Practitioner guide Written by the studio from its own production practice. It states the studio's method and opinion, cites no third-party research, and attributes no performance figures to the studio.

A planning framework for defining voice, visual rules, rights, and review criteria before AI-assisted brand content production.

Voice + vocabulary

Tone descriptors, banned words, signature phrases, and example outputs locked in a single document.

Visual rules

Color, lighting, framing, and aesthetic rules that translate into prompts and constraints for image/video models.

Guardrails

What this brand never does. Negative space is as important as positive direction.

Reference boards before rules

Rules describe; references show. Collect the ten frames, ten lines and ten sounds the brand would sign off on and the ten it would not, and derive the written rules from them. A generator prompted from references drifts less than one prompted from adjectives.

The persona in three registers

Write how the brand speaks in a hook, in a product explanation and in a caption. The same persona sounds different in each, and a document that defines only one register produces ads where every line sounds like a headline.

Testing the persona before production

Generate a small set against the document, review it with the people who own the brand, and record what passed and what failed as additions to the guardrails. The document is finished when a new reviewer, given it alone, rejects the same frames the brand would.

FAQ

How long does brand persona work take?+

Timing depends on the approved scope, source rights, review requirements, and brand-team availability, and is confirmed in the project plan.

Does a persona document replace brand guidelines?+

No. It translates them. Brand guidelines are written for designers and writers; the persona document restates them as the prompts, references and negative rules a generative workflow can act on, and points back to the guidelines it came from.

This is how the studio does it in practice: AI brand persona creation.
