Every Texture, Not One Model

A haircare range shown across the textures it is actually sold to.

Every Texture, Not One Model

This is a spec scenario, built to show how Unreal Media Group approaches this brief. It is not a client engagement, and no results are claimed. Haircare is sold to every hair type and photographed on roughly two. The brief was to produce a range set that shows the product across the textures its buyers actually have.

What's included

  • Full spread of textures and lengths
  • No casting bottleneck
  • Texture accuracy as the review bar
  • No before-and-after or repair claim
  • Stills for PDP and retail

The brief we set

A product film and a set of stills for each product in a haircare range, presented across a full spread of hair textures and lengths.

Casting cost is why this rarely happens

Showing six textures conventionally means six casting decisions, six calls and six blocks of studio time. Cost is the reason most ranges settle for two, and the result is a customer who cannot see their own hair in the advertising.

Texture has to survive close inspection

Hair is the hardest thing in this category to represent honestly. Coil pattern, frizz, shine and movement are the review criteria, because a texture that reads as wrong is worse than not showing it.

No results claimed

Nothing depicts a before-and-after, a growth outcome or a repair claim. The creative shows the product in use and argues on texture, scent, format and routine.

What ships

A film per product across texture variants, vertical and square crops, and stills for PDP and retail.

Frequently asked questions

Was this made for a real client?+

No. This is spec work — a brief we set ourselves to demonstrate the approach and the production model. The frames are ours. No client is named because there isn't one, and no performance figure is quoted because there is nothing to quote.

How do you avoid misrepresenting hair texture?+

Texture accuracy is the explicit review criterion, checked against references. Where a texture cannot be represented faithfully we say so rather than shipping an approximation — getting it wrong is worse than not showing it.

What would this cost to make?+

It depends on deliverable count, usage rights, revision rounds and turnaround. Scope is agreed in writing before anything is produced, as a defined batch of work rather than a recurring fee.
